Hello Robert,

Which hardware are you using? Is the problem relating to programming or compilation?

Hi Robert,
the attached dat file from:
http://ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/D ... -62-14.zip

I managed to trace this Supported devices from Microchip archive site (was not easy to find since microchip has removed most information for PICkit2 ):

Code: Select all

Current PICkit 2 Device Support (November 2011)

PLEASE NOTE that the PICkit 2 Programmer Application provides programming support for additional devices that MPLAB IDE does not. The list of these devices can be found further down, in the Device Programming Only Support section.

For support information with an installed previous version of the MPLAB IDE, see Readme for PICkit 2 in the “Readmes” subdirectory of “MPLAB IDE.” (Typically C:\Program Files\Microchip\MPLAB IDE\Readmes)

Device Programming and Debugging Support

MPLAB IDE

AND

PICkit 2 Programmer Application v2.61

Download MPLAB IDE X

Download MPLAB IDE v8

Download PICkit 2 Programmer Application v2.61

MPLAB IDE X provides programming and debugging support for these devices.

MPLAB IDE v8 provides programming and debugging support for these devices.

The PICkit 2 Programmer Application v2.61 provides programming support for these devices.

* Devices marked with an asterisk require a device specific ICD header board & the RJ-11 to ICSP Adapter to enable debugging. These are not required for programming.

That did the trick to program the chip from the pickit software. many thanks for the help.

I can't program it directly from flow code for now but I can get the job done by running both programs at the same time.

I called Microchip they don't feel like supporting the pickit 2 any more so now I have to get a pickit 3 instead :?

Hi all,
I have a PICkit2 Programmer (with red button) and also want to programme PIC16F1840 (and 720 /721 as well). I have followed all the above but I see no change in the device listing when I want to select any of those 3 to programme. What concerns me is that although I now have the v1.62.14 (re-named to PK"DeviceFile.dat sitting in the same file as V2.61 and the original.DAT file re-named, I dont get any of the table shown in the forum images and no way of choosing baseline, mid-range or anything else! I just get a relatively small listing of various chips which doesnt have the ones I need. I have restarted the computer in case the changes needed that but to no avail. Can someone tell me where I am going wrong...

No problem - I have sorted this problem but no thanks to Microchips confusing, misleading and non-working downloads - very frustrating. Still got a problem with not being able to totally erase chip but will revert to V4 forum to see if anyone knows why -cheers, Chris :?

You have to downgrade to a pickit3 programmer. The pickit2 is not supported anymore.

I successfully programmed a 12F1840 directly with Flowcode V6:
Program 12F1840 FC6.png
(31.83 KiB) Downloaded 5671 times
To do that I used settings posted here:
http://www.matrixmultimedia.com/mmforum ... 02&#p51902
I added the files posed here:
http://www.matrixmultimedia.com/mmforum ... 142#p57992
into:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Flowcode 6\tools\PICkit2
Since I have 64 bit windows
I you have 32 bit windows then the path is:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Flowcode 6\tools\PICkit2

IMPORTANT:
You should not use connect VPP directly from VPP of programmer to the target device!
VPP output from programmer is 12.5V
VPP of 12F1840 is 9V max!

What I did was to connect a 10K resistor in series from VPP of programmer to VPP of 12F1840.

If not already done so, you may also need to update the operating system of you PICkit2 programmer.
See:
http://www.matrixmultimedia.com/mmforum ... 17&#p15617

I have also found that:
If using the stand alone Pickit2 programmer and it states no device connected, If you place the attached Dat file in the programmers directory, then the device will be detected.
Also if you use more than one space in the flowchart name then you will get:

Code: Select all

Hex file not found.
