The pilot-pilot valve allows the air supply to be directed to one of two destinations under the control of air pressure from other parts of the circuit - for example, the extend and retract ports of a double action cylinder.
The valve has a latching action. When a pilot input is pressurised, the valve selects the destination, and this setting is remembered even if the pilot pressure is then removed.
