This apparatus is used to demonstrate the fact that a force is exerted on a current-carrying wire when it is placed in a magnetic field. The apparatus consists of three parts - a large Locktronics carrier with two parallel wires, a powerful magnetic yoke with North and South poles clearly visible, and a thick tinned copper wire as the conductor.
The copper wire 'kicks' off the carrier when a current is passed through it. This highly visual apparatus provides a highly visual opportunity of demonstrating Fleming's left hand motor rule.
