Our school computers have recently been upgraded to Windows 7. Unfortunately we have no longer been able to use a control box with the CoCo software. The error message "Could not query the HID device" is displayed. We use the Deltronics Control and Data Capture control box. Any thoughts?

Hi
With it plugged in does it show up in device manager,if it doesnt and theres a device that says unrecognised device, unplug it and see it the unrecognised device has gone, windows likes to install its own drivers and sometime miss reads devices etc.
You could always try running the software in compatibilitry mode

We are having the same issue since upgraded, admin users can connect to the deltronics box but student users can't, the device shows as all working Ok in the device manager - we are using the RM CC4 network. Did you find any solution to this. Are there any permissions that need to be given to student users to allow access to something or some folder. Help would be much appreciated as we are getting to a point where this is not a viable piece of software and kit to use
thanks Anne

Hello Anne,

I've been through our FAQs but not found anything too helpful as of yet. I will ask a colleague as he has a lot more to do with CoCo development.

Out of interest where is the CoCo software being installed on your client machines? If it is in Program Files then this is locked down in modern versions of Windows. Maybe try moving the installation to somewhere where you have write permissions and this might allow the software to work without admin permissions.

Hi Benj

thanks for looking, fingers crossed your colleague will come up some inspiration. Will try your suggestion of putting it higher up on the C drive. thanks Anne

Hello Anne,

The attached file will hopefully solve your problem.

You will need to rename your existing CoCo.exe file and copy the one in this ZIP file into the CoCo folder of your PC.

Please let us know how you get on.

Kind regards,
Steve.
