Hall Effect Digital component

Not sure if I'd call this a bug - maybe a bug in the documentation.
With the digital hall effect sensor - there is a polarity setting (Active High or Active Low). However, unless I misunderstand something, this does nothing at all?
The documents and tooltips all imply that it affects the returned value for on/off - but ReadState just returns the pin value and WaitHigh and WaitLow do exactly that - wait for the pin to go high or low. So what does 'polarity' do?
