Or you could use stackable headers, like they do for Arduino shields.
Anything on the display yet?

Yes but you know here finding some things is hard so i design my pcbs according to what is easily available here or can be found here and some time i first get what to use then design puting in mind what is already there.

Ok you asked if anything on the display? the answer is no.I wrote the code according to PIC18F442 but due to space on it couldn't allow me to write all that I wanted in it.So i changed to PIC18F47k40 which is not available here have to look for money and order from digikey but i designed the PCB anyway just to be ready if i happen to get the (47k40) or i can load some of the code from the previous (18f442) for you to see if you are interested.

Ok, i can't run the previous code ether, because i have used a 12MHz crystal on my PCB giving me 48MHz and the max of 18f442 is 40MHz.

For basic testing you can run at 12MHZ instead?

Ok as you say Martin i think i have to change up some few things on timer2 int then test, i will see that tomorrow if i get time as of today been bizy with the phase angle battery charger circuit added some pics there too tho it's in the ( Dc voltmeter 0-55v) post can check them out thanks coz it's better to learn with hardware around to test things up since i don't have development boards i gues i have to do it the hard way.

Ok here are the pictures as you wanted to see my friend Medelec35, but like i said ,this is basic as space on the chip wouldn't allow me to add all that i wanted, things like custom characters to mention but a few. So on the 18F47K40, i have allot of space in that I've changed allot on the display and even added more functions. Like saving to eeprom the last temp and time used if it would be needed to be used next time without having to setup again, sensing zero hours and zero seconds entered as error, cutting off power on and off at set points to maintain set Temp, pausing time to check on what you are cooking as Temp continues to be maintained. ETC

Nice.
I'm glad the LCD works, which then suggests the rest should work as well.

Sorry some pictures have repeatedly appeared but definitely no doubt this will work am only thinking of phase angle charging have you checked on my pics in the Dc voltmeter 0-55v post? Gonna have to post there the link to the video of the thyristor RC snuber circuit i ask you kindly to watch it.
