EB-006-00-8 Programmer

Post by alanwms »

Hello:
Re - Flowcode V5.5.2.1 (30.01.2013)
EB-006-00-8 Programmer USB and power supply connected

I have been using the EB-006-00-8 programmer for about 7 years. Works fine with PIC18f4525, but when I attempt to program a PIC18f26k80, the dialog box opens and tells me it can't identify the chip Pic18f26k80 and presumes it is connected as spec'd in the config. The programming subsequently fails.

I have investigated similar issues on the bulletin board, and the update for PPP links are broken so I didn't update anything, I have tried most of the resolves such as switching to RC osc and back - no luck. I have a feeling that the firmware on the EB-006=00-8 predates the Pic18f26k80.

Is that possible?

Also wondering if you have a suggestion for a different programmer board that might be easier to insert chips? Any second source boards out there you might recommend?

Thoughts?

Didn't get a response for my post - Ended up getting a PICkit 3, saving the flowcode file an a hex format and dumping it into the PIC18f26k80 vis the required 5 pins on the chip. Now I don't have to remove the chip to program.
