Connecting to EB006 boards

Post by Jan Lichtenbelt »

I wanted to conenct two multiprogrammer EB006 boards with the same powersupply. I was wondering if that is possible?

The first step is to look if the ground of the powersupply is the same as the ground of the board? That is not the case. This differs the voltage over a diode, which is about 0.6 Volt.
In principal 2 boards can be connected, only if both boards have exactly the same voltage drop over the diodes. The voltage drops over a diode depend both on the type of diodes as on the currents used.

Conclusion:
Two EB006 boards can be connected, only if a relatively big connection is made between each board, e.g. by means of a wire between the 2 grounds (GND J7/J10) of each board. This is appicable if you use higher currents.

With kind regards

Hello Jan,

We chain EB006 boards together on our solutions so they can be powered from a single PSU. We connect the ground terminals together and the +14V terminals together and this PSU supply voltage is then ran through the bridge on the local EB006 and forwarded to the rest of the boards.

That is OK.

1) +14V connections by means of Power connection or +14V screw connectors
2) GND connections by means of 2 GND-screw connectors should always be present (additional if two plug power connections are used)

Hi Jan,

We always connect up both connections using the screw terminals GND and +14V.

Hi Ben,

I was wrong with my advise. Use only using the screw connections both for +14V and GND.

Kind regards

Jan
