ZIF sockets are relatively expensive, which is why we do not put one of the board. But you can add a 40-pin ZIF socket relatively easily - the only tricky bit is you need to raise the ZIP socket up a little by adding a few normal DIL sockets underneath it first.

I agree about the price. was thinking of just one socket replacing all the holders. I will probably make several bases, 14,pin 40 pin etc and plug zif into the suitable base.
