ECIO40P16 not working

Hello,

Few weeks ago I purchased two ECIOs 40P16, but one of them is not working.
Green LED is lit all the time, it doesn't respond to USB. Oscillator is not running.
Can I do something about it myself?

Regards,
Janez

Hello Janez,

Sounds like the bootloader may not be installed on to the device correctly. We are investigating the batch of boards here.

Do you have access to a PICkit 3 or 4 and the ECIO application board EB061?

Without the EB061 it is still possible to reflash but you will have to wire the connections from the PICkit to the ECIO yourself.

If you don't have the PICkit then you will likely have to return the item to us for reprogramming. If you let me know I will generate you a returns number.

Hi,

I don't have pickit or EB061.
I have MPLAB ICD 2 from Microchip and few other universal programmers which supports ISP and regular programming. (also for dsPIC)
If you can send me bootloader file I will upload it to ECIO myself, then will see what happens.. :)

Regards,
Janez

Hi Janez,

Here is the bootloader hex file for the ECIO40P16.
ECIO40P16 Bootloader.hex
(44.14 KiB) Downloaded 289 times
Let us know how you get on.

Hi Ben,

As you assumed there was no bootloader on the ECIO.
Now it works.

Thanks!

Hi Benj
I have 6 new ECIO40P16s of which the green LED remains on steady. I tried everything also the attached bootloader, but the pickit3 + Mplab give me a target ID error. It is normal that when I add the * .exe file to Mplab instead of seeing the hexadecimal numbers in the file register I see the dashes?
Thanks,
Ferla
