The same thing happened to me. It says :

"Flowcode could not load one of the components in the file because it is not registered on this machine. Install the necessary components before this file."

I think it's referring to the PWM and ADC components. Creating a new file works. Help! I need to work on the program soon!

Thanks!

This problem seems to affect only certain components - LED, LEDarray, Switch, SwitchBank, LCD, 7Seg1, 7Seg4, ADC.

Any more information you have (OS, language, 64bit, etc) would be really helpful for us to sort this out.

I have been able to replicate the crash, but only by deleting something from the registry while I am running Flowcode.

If anyone is having this problem and are familiar with the Windows registry, can you please run Flowcode and tell me if the following keys exist and what their values are:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\matrixmm\FlowCodeV4\Info\CurrentLanguage
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\matrixmm\FlowCodeV4\Info\CurrentProfile

(on a 64-bit OS, this will be in a different section fro 32bit apps).

Hello Steve,

I'm running on windows 7 64-bit. Sorry, I don't know how to check the registry thing.

The program i am trying to run has ADC, PWM and switches.

I hope this helps.

By the way, I didn't try to install the full version of Flowcode V4.3. I only did the patch.

Thanks!

I work with Win 7, 32 Bit, registry value CurrentLanguage is empty, registry value CurrentProfile is FlowcodeV4. I have any projects with LEDs, Switches, ADC, PWM.

Thanks. It does look like on some PCs, the "CurrentLanguage" key cannot be changed by Flowcode for some reason. We are unable to replicate the problem here (other than deleting the registry entry once Flowcode has loaded). I wonder if there is some anti-virus software (or similar) that is stopping this entry from being written to correctly.

Is it possible that these problem at the OCX files lies? The registry entry CurrentLanguage is empty also at the version 4.2 and there is no problem there.

My anti virus software Norman has always been there. Why should it cause any problem now?

What do you suggest I do as an immediate solution to be able to use my Flowcode again? I wouldn't mind trying it again later to help give you info but just for emergency purposes, do I just do system restore?

I have deinstalled the version 4.3 and installed the version 4.2 newly. Safeguarding FCD files changed perhaps before. I can continue to work on my projects with that.

Thanks Tiny, I already did a system restore and my flowcode is working now.
Steve, just tell me if you want me to try something out so I can still get my 4.3 going.

Ok, I think I know the cause of the problem and I can offer a fix. The problem will exist on non-British English-language PCs. It may possibly affect other languages as well - e.g. Canadian French PCs. And it only affects the 8 components I have previously listed.

The workaround is to go to the "global options" screen and select "override language", selecting the language of your choice from the drop-down list.

If this does not fix the problem, then please let me know asap.

Please accept our sincere apologies for this error. We are currently working on a permanent fix to the actual v4.3 download so that this workaround is only needed for those people who have downloaded and installed the v4.3 that was available over the weekend just gone.

A quick update on this...

The latest release of Flowcode v4.3 (for PIC) should not have this problem. This was officially released at the beginning of April.

I upgraded to the latest version, and for some reason Flowcode uses 100% of my CPU every time I make a change. It's verrrry slow and I have tried uninstalling the program and reinstalling it. I get the same results. The other thing is that when I close the program my macro view settings all go back to 100%. Some of my macros are big, so I like to work at 50 and 25% but every time I close the program flowcode sets all my macro back to 100%. I also like to use 100% of my desk space, so I hide the properties window. But every time I open my program I have to again hide the properties window. Is there a way of completely erasing Flowcode then reinstalling? I've already tried using the windows xp program uninstaller, but I keep getting the same results. I never have this problem when running V3.

Are you using the latest v4.3 from our website, or have you installed via CD?

Yes I am using the latest version from the website. First I installed from the CD then I upgraded via the website using the patch. I Then deleted/uninstalled flowcode v4 then installed the full version which I downloaded from the site.

Just an note. I just imported a macro into a new program and it looks like V4 is working fine. The original program I'm having problems with was created in V3. So I guess the question is what could be wrong with my program why it would run so slow and hog 100% of CPU? When I upload the program to chip, it work fine, but making changes take forever.

Hi Ondra,

Wow - that's probably the biggest Flowcode program I have ever seen!

I've tracked down the issue and it was due to a simple fix we made in v4.3 to address a very minor redrawing problem. Unfortunately, this "fix" seems to impact very large programs quite badly (basically, the redrawing of the flowchart is exponentially increased in a large program which causes everything to slow down).

The quick workaround for now is to close the flowchart tabs/windows and only leave the one(s) open that you need to look at. Having only 2 or 3 open will dramatically increase the response of Flowcode.

We'll work to fix this problem for the next Flowcode release.
