max MIACs in a CAN network

Post by thusharag »

could you let me know the maximum possible number of MIACs can be connected through CAN terminals to acheve a hassele free operation practically. we will guess one MIAC sends five numbers of frames for a second to the CAN network.
Thanks & Regards,

Hi Thushara,

I suppose it depends on the frequency and size of the messages that you are sending across the CAN network. But even with a lot of communication traffic, I think you should be able to connect 30 or 40 without any problems at all.

Thanks steve. If i use 5 frames with 8 data in a second from one MIAC, is this condition also ok to use more than 30 MIACs successfully?
Thanks & Regards,

I would think so, but the only way to be sure is to try it and monitor the CAN bus traffic using an analyzer tool.
