RFID Read Distance

Hi,
Im looking at using the e-block RFID board for an application, but need to read at a distance slightly more than the 10cm stated in the data sheet for the on board module / antenna. Has anyone any experience of the detachable antenna / module and the likely operational read distance? I need something reliable up to around 20cm....
