CAN Messaging and CAN Buffers
Hi, I have a couple of queries on how the CAN buffers work with the CAN component, it all related to a different method of CAN messaging I'm working with so thought I should outline that first... COMPOUND MESSAGING I have a CAN based device which transmits different groups of variables but under the...

Switch - Active Low - Pull up
Hi, The switch component has the option to set the switch 'active low' i.e. Input is logic 1 when a pulled to ground. Does this function automatically enable a weak internal pull-up in the PIC or do I need to apply a weak pull-up in my hardware? And the flip-side of that question...I assume you alwa...

Re: I/O expansion
Hi, I found this thread really useful and have learnt quite a bit in getting my SPI MCP23s17 expander working with an ECIO 40P , especially logic levels and tweaking the in-line resitors on the SPI line. I usually try to document my stuff for future reference and so I've attached my Circuit diagram ...

ECIO 40P E2 (AN7) Pulled High.
Hi,
I have 3 switches on Port E of the ECIO 40P but noticed that Pin E2 (AN7) is pulled high on the ECIO board, Can pin E2 be used for other functions or is it reserved for an ECIO specific function?
Cheers, J.

Re: ECIO and Visual Basic
Snag :-) Visual Studio 2010 Express, (containing VB Express) is free to download, will create a standalone .exe program and you can distribute your program, which is great but they pulled the upgrade wizard in the 2008 edition so I cant import any VB6 examples. I've had a fairly good trawl about but...

Re: ECIO and Visual Basic
Thanks Guys, I think I'll have a look at Visual Basic (.Net) in Visual Studio Express and your sample files. I'm not looking to do anything fancy but from what i can see from a quick search is; Visual Studio Express is free to download from M.S. Anything I write using the Visual Studio Express can b...

ECIO and Visual Basic
Hi, I've been using Flowcode4, Eblocks and ECIOs for a couple of projects which have proved useful around the workshop and have really enjoyed the Flowcode/Eblocks system. Looking to the future, I may continue a projects development and head towards a commercial product and .... First. The ECIO (PIC...

Re: Program with Two Initialise Macros wont Compile
 Had trouble applying the 4.2-4.3 patch so did a 'remove program' and ran the Flowcode 4.3 Pic upgrade from the web site, just done a quick check and the program now compiles. I'll check if I can now get the main program to compile later today. I should have twigged something was upset when th...

Program with Two Initialise Macros wont Compile
Hi, When I try to compile a program the system seems to hang partway through the linking process. I'm running flowcode V4.1.1.55 and PPP V3.10.14.28 I thinned the program down until I found the feature, which if removed would allow the program to fully compile but if present it will not. See attache...

Re: Using the FlowKit ICD Tool
Thanks for the pointers... Yep dead right. I took flowkit out of the loop and just used the EB006 V7, In the main the IDC is working well. The following are not a issue for me any more but for any others having ICD issues. I was compiling to hex using flowcode but sending the Hex using PPP running s...

Re: Using the FlowKit ICD Tool
Hi guys, Having a bit of trouble getting going with the FlowKit ICD. > Using a 16F887A in the EB006 V7 board. The test program is just a single LED flashing on Port C. Re: EB006 V7 & 16F88 - Pin RA5
Ah, Yes. Spot on Ben. The push to break PB1 is indeed what was tripping me up. For the development of my current simple project, I can use PB1 as the switch input instead of an external switch connected to PORT A RA5. Thanks, As a small side issue, Is it possible to desolder or insert a disable swit...

EB006 V7 & 16F88 - Pin RA5
Hi, Using the EB006 and a PIC16F88, I wish to use RA5 ( PORT A, Pin6 ) as a switch input. I have set to PPP option to use this pin as an input and not as MCLR. The hardware is setup the same as the other switch inputs on RA4 and RA3 and using a meter the voltage measured on PORT A pin 6, swings corr...

Re: Seven Segment Display - Basic Help
Medelec,
Thanks for your help, I think I've got pretty good control over my 7Seg displays now. I had a closer look over your examples and yeah, the use of the interrupts looks a much better solution. I've now incorporated these ideas into my mini project...so all looking good.
Cheers, J.

Re: Seven Segment Display - Basic Help
Hi, Yes that's defiantly an improvement. By playing with your version, I agree that.... The 'Clear Digit' macro sets all of Port B's pins, thus clearing the digit on led7seg(1) - As expected. But this macro does not toggle the common anode pin A1. As such led7seg(1) remains active and receives anyth...

Re: Seven Segment Display - Basic Help
Thanks Medelec, I should mention that I'm still working on my project only in software and running the program using the flowcode simulate function. I downloaded the modified FC V4 example you posted ( SOB_Bolter v2_Modified.fcf ) and ran that using the simulate function. When I did this, the correc...

CAN E-Block Module or CAN on Chip
Hi, I am looking at the most logical way for me to approach the E-blocks. I want to do quite a few projects based on CAN and so have been looking at the CAN E-Blocks Bundle, however is there any reason why I cannot use a standard E-Blocks PIC board and use a PIC the CAN already built in? I already k...
